ONTARIO HEALTH INSURANCE PLAN (OHIP)
Please call our office with your health card details to verify your eligibility for coverage under OHIP.
Children (0 – 19 Years Old)
Children are eligible for a comprehensive eye exam once a year, and they can also periodically receive assessments for specific conditions such as ocular infections or binocular vision issues.
Seniors (65 Years And Older)
Seniors are eligible for eye exams every 18 months. Additionally, they can periodically undergo assessments for specific conditions such as macular degeneration, cataracts, or ocular infections.
Adults (20 – 64 Years Old)
In recent years, the Ontario provincial government discontinued OHIP coverage for patients aged 20 to 64. However, there are exceptions where OHIP coverage remains applicable for individuals within this age group. Conditions such as glaucoma, diabetes, cataracts, retinal disease, visual field defects, strabismus, amblyopia, or corneal disease allow individuals to utilize OHIP coverage for annual eye exams, enabling the monitoring of their eye health.
